Year’s Expectations

I am looking forward to a great year at Palm Lakes Elementary.  We have a lot of learning to do this year!  We will be learning to read music, write musical compositions, study music history, and to learn about different world cultures and their various styles of music.  I have a positive outlook that this will be a great experience and so should you!  I want all of my students to walk away from this class with a greater appreciation for the power of knowledge and music.

Materials

Students are expected to be responsible for their belongings in the music classroom. The following items will be required for students of all grade levels to use in class on a daily basis:

(1) 3-pronged folder with pockets                                          Personal Pencil Sharpener      

Clean Notebook Paper                                                            Pencils

Dividers                                                                                  Pencil bag

Classroom Etiquette

  1. Be respectful to yourself and those around you.
  2. Please raise your hand and wait patiently to be called upon.
  3. Follow directions given the first time.
  4. Only leave the room when you have permission to do so.
  5. Please remain seated unless directed otherwise.
  6. Always try your best.

 

Discipline Plan- Consequences

  1. Nonverbal warning to correct behavior
  2. Verbal warning to correct behavior
  3. Student is asked to move to a different seat.
  4. Student is asked to move to a different area for a Moment of Reflection.
  5. A note/call will be sent home to the parent.
  6. Student is asked to speak with the school counselor regarding problem behavior.

 

Expectations from Parents

The key to student success is parental support and involvement at home.   Please don’t forget to mark your calendar: Parent/Teacher Conference Night, Tuesday,
