 September is Safety Awareness Month

On September 18th we had The Great Safety Adventure Truck sponsored by Lowe’s visit Palm Lakes Elementary.  The students in Pre-K through 2nd grade were able to participate and learn about safety in the home.  They were presented with safety hazards in the living room, the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom and the backyard.

The students learned many important lessons in Rover’s house such as staying away from matches, not touching cleaning materials and hot stoves, staying away from medications and how to evacuate from your house when there is a fire.  The students at Palm Lakes were amazed and excited by all the great information that was presented to them by the safety rangers.  The presentation was covered by the CBS 33 news in the morning media truck.  It was definitely an experience that our students will remember for many years to come.

If you are interested in reading more about The Great Safety Adventure Program, you can visit their web site at www.homesafetycouncil.org.
